About the Role
GEMS World Academy – Dubai is currently seeking an outstanding and passionate Individuals and Societies BTEC Teacher to join our highly successful secondary school faculty. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified educator to work in a world-class international environment and contribute to the continued development of an innovative BTEC programme within our Individuals and Societies department.
The successful candidate will deliver the BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 curriculum in the field of Humanities and Social Sciences, focusing on areas such as business, global perspectives, travel and tourism, or public services, depending on the school’s offerings and student interests. This role requires an enthusiastic teacher who brings creativity, a commitment to experiential learning, and a deep understanding of the BTEC framework.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality teaching of BTEC courses in Individuals and Societies (e.g., Travel & Tourism, Business, or similar) to students aged 14–18.
Design, plan, and implement engaging, differentiated lessons in accordance with BTEC specifications and learning outcomes.
Contribute to curriculum development and assessment procedures, ensuring they meet Pearson BTEC standards and guidelines.
Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing clear feedback and reporting as required.
Foster a learning environment that inspires curiosity, critical thinking, collaboration, and respect.
Support students in developing practical, vocational, and academic skills in line with BTEC expectations.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of BTEC requirements and professional practices in vocational education.
Collaborate with colleagues across the Individuals and Societies department and the wider school community to enhance cross-disciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
Participate in school events, staff meetings, CPD opportunities, parent conferences, and student extracurricular activities.
Provide academic and pastoral guidance to students and help them achieve their potential both inside and outside the classroom.
Required Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Education or a relevant subject area (e.g., Business Studies, Humanities, Social Sciences).
A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, PGDE, QTS, B.Ed., or equivalent).
Minimum of 2 years’ teaching experience in a BTEC or vocational education setting, preferably within an international school context.
Experience teaching Pearson BTEC qualifications at Key Stage 4 and 5 (Level 2 & Level 3).
Strong understanding of vocational assessment methodologies, including internal verification processes, assignment design, and tracking of learner progress.
Experience with planning and delivering inquiry-based, student-centered learning.
Desirable Attributes
Familiarity with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) or International Baccalaureate curriculum is an advantage.
Experience in leading or contributing to vocational programme development.
Passion for working with diverse learners and a demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching practices.
Ability to integrate technology effectively in teaching and learning.
Willingness to contribute to the wider life of the school through clubs, trips, and community engagement.
