Job description English teacher
The UAE Ministry of Education is leading educational change across the UAE. The Ministry of Education has implemented a new English language curriculum as part of the Progressive Educational Change Program.
The English language curriculum will contribute to the UAE’s vision to prepare students for a better tomorrow by providing them with the skills needed for a successful future and supporting them effectively to manage their educational and personal growth.

English teachers work in teams, led by senior teachers and supported by a sector specialist, with each member contributing to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning materials and student support. Secondary English language teachers are responsible for the successful implementation of the English language curriculum across grades 6 through 12 and are required to:
Delivering curricula in accordance with the principles of teaching and learning in the twenty-first century.
Model and support a practical, learner-centered classroom environment that fosters learner engagement and participation.
Ensure that students reach the expected age-related outcomes for English.
Create a positive, active, language-rich learning environment.
Support the learning process by identifying needs and directing students to achieve their learning goals.
Ensure that assessments are delivered in accordance with the assessment strategy and guidelines in a correct and accurate manner.
Maintain an accurate record of students’ achievements and performance.
Establish positive and effective relationships with colleagues.
English language teachers are required to:
Working overtime to provide extracurricular activities
Travel as required to events, training, and cover away from their school
Be smart and present a positive image of themselves and the English department at all times
English teachers must be able to:
Integrate with your colleagues from different cultures
Perform all aspects of their role with an understanding of the broader strategy
Effective planning and workload management
Working in harsh weather conditions (hot)
Gaining the trust and respect of Emirati cadres at all levels
English teachers must possess:
Maturity, intelligence, energy, and sense of humor
Diplomacy and tact? Outstanding initiative and enthusiasm
Courage and moral integrity
Patience, flexibility, and resilience
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Awareness and sensitivity to Islamic culture
Candidates must meet at least one of the options of the criteria required below.
Bachelor’s degree in English, Languages, and Linguistics + CELTA (or Level 5 equivalent)
PGCE in Secondary Education with a focus on English, Languages, and Linguistics
The minimum age is 1976
PGCE + CELTA
DELTA (TEFL Q status)
Excellent oral and written English. The following certificates of competency are accepted and must be submitted prior to the interview.
EmSAT minimum 1625
IELTS 7 Academic / 7.5 overall (with a minimum of 6.5 in each component)
Cambridge CAE (C1)
Cambridge CPE (C2)
